In celebration of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa this coming August, Layap will take part in recognizing and giving importance to all 170+ languages spoken in the Philippines. Hence, Layap came up with Buwan ng mga Wika for this August.
In line with this, Layap will hold Kwento-Lit 2011: Kwentong Bulilit, Ito ang Malupit!. This is a children’s story writing competition for elementary schools (Grades 4-6) and high schools (1st year-4th year level) all over the country. This contest promotes the cultures, experiences, languages, and traditions of various ethnolinguistic groups through the use of the children’s first language or L1 in making the short stories.
This project is co-presented by Pambata Magazine, an academic supplement for grade school students, providing useful reading material for such subjects as Science, Math, English and Social Sciences.
