International Mother Language Day Celebration (February 21) 
-  Such celebration will revolve around International Mother Language Day, an observance held annually on February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.









Kwento-Lit 2011: Kwentong Bulilit, Ito Ang Malupit! 
- In celebration of Buwan ng Wika this coming August, Layap held the nationwide Kwento-Lit 2011: Kwentong Bulilit, Ito ang Malupit! Kwento-Lit 2011 is a children’s story writing contest, open to elementary and secondary level students nationwide. This contest aims to establish and promote the use of one’s mother language in story writing by showcasing the individual and original works that are intended for children. It was endorsed by the Department of Education and in cooperation with Pambata Magazine.




A Dialogue on the Implementation of Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education in the Philippines and Timor Leste (August 22, 2011) - In this forum, experts of multilingual education from 170+ MLE Talaytayan Consortium presented their past and present advocacy efforts to push forward for the implementation of MTBMLE in the basic education system here in the Philippines to the delegates from the Ministry of Education from Timor Leste, headed by Director-General Domingos Maia. This project is organized by UP Layap, Save the Children and 170+ Talaytayan MLE, Inc.
